Benefit Plan Bursary

The annual GSS Benefit Plan Bursary is intended to offset the costs of the extended Health & Dental Benefit Plan ($459.54) for graduate students in demonstrated financial need.

To apply, submit the Benefit Plan Bursary Application Form to the GSS Offices. Original applications must be provided by intercampus mail, regular mail or in person at the GSS Office, MBC 2203. Emailed applications will not be accepted.

Acceptable External Confirmation documents include: Scholarship Award Letters, TA/RA Contracts, or Paycheque stubs. We cannot accept zero income, you must provide proof of funds.

Notification of results usually occurs within one month of the deadline.


Family Subsidy 

The GSS is proud to continue its Family Subsidy program to assist graduate students who have children. Graduate students with children, in demonstrated financial need, are eligible to apply for up to $400 in funding.

Family Subsidy Regulations:

  • All first-time applicants will be automatically enrolled in the Quest food exchange program.
  • Only one (1) FSA may be granted to an applicant per academic year.
  • The maximum number of FSAs granted per family cannot exceed three (3) in total*.
  • Secondary applications must show evidence of applications to external sources (e.g. official documentation of denial of subsidy, awards, and government services).
  • Non-essential expenses (e.g. flights) will not be considered.

*Families with multiple graduate students will be considered as one family, as such, the maximum limit of three (3) applies per family. No exceptions.
