GSS Lounge at Burnaby Campus (Maggie Benston Centre, 2212)

Free Meeting & Social Space
Need a meeting room? Have a social event you’d like to host in the GSS Lounge? Grad students can book either of our rooms for Caucus events free of charge!

The GSS Boardroom fits up to 16 people. The Boardroom has a projection screen and a series of whiteboards.

The GSS Lounge capacity is about 35 people seated, 70 people, standing. It has couches, chairs, small tables and a great view.  The Lounge also has a projection screen. (Note: The GSS is not a licensed venue, meaning a Special Occasion License is required to host events with alcohol in that space).

Please note:
For after hours bookings, we require a minimum of five (5) business days for booking requirements. When you place an after hours booking, it will be processed for both the Boardroom and Lounge spaces.

Priority is given to Graduate Students for room bookings, other groups may be able to book our spaces, depending on the capacity required. 

For requests during our business hours, the GSS Lounge is unavailable Monday to Friday, 10:00AM to 3:00PM. Our Boardroom can be requested a minimum of three (3) business days before, for times between 10:00AM and 3:00PM. Please note we cannot accommodate room booking requests after 10:00pm; you must have the space cleaned by 9:30pm, and departed from the space by 10:00pm.

Planning to Host an On-Campus Event with Alcohol?

A Graduate Caucus event involving alcohol that is held on any of SFU’s campuses requires a special event liquor license (Special Occasion License), if not held in a licensed venue. (Note: The GSS Lounge is not a licensed venue.)

Please allow a minimum of 10 business days for processing prior to your event. We cannot rush insurance certificate requests as they can only be provided to us by our insurance broker.
