The Governance Committee of the Graduate Student Society furthers the goals of responsiveness, equitability, transparency and accountability of the Society by pursuing consensus-oriented practices, engagement with membership, and the free dissemination of opinions and ideas at the Society, Simon Fraser University and beyond.
Core Competencies- skills and experiences beyond the regular academic areas
- understanding of regulations and procedures as formed in a non-profit, post-secondary-based, Canadian organization
- learn how to develop governing documents that will form the structure and support the functioning of the Society
- learn the lexicon, “legalese” and other very specific terminology used in policy development
- increase understanding through active development of governing documents
- review of policy and procedural documents of the Society
