INDIVIDUAL ADVOCACY

The GSS has a dedicated staff person to help graduate students with their individual concerns. The Advocate and Policy Advisor gives advice, attends appeals, intervenes, and more, depending on the situation. This office is completely confidential.

collective ADVOCACY

The Advocate is also available for the students who are trying to address the shared concerns of multiple students. Conversations with the advocacy office with a group of students can remain confidential and can be about concerns that are already public.

RIGHTS GUIDE

A Know Your Rights Guide for graduate students was launched in December 2020. The guide is designed to help you understand policies, practices and rights related to your academic and non-academic life while attending SFU. The guide uses language to make policies more accessible, consolidates both SFU and non-SFU policies that are relevant to graduate students and includes links to specific policies as well as additional resources.

workshops

The GSS offers workshops to students relating to advocacy concerns, such as academic dishonesty, supervision problems, or human rights. These workshops are often presented with SFU or community partners. To request a workshop please email: advocacy@sfugradsociety.ca
