Hi Grads,

Welcome to April, one of the busiest but most beautiful months of the year. ☀  As usual, I want to encourage you to take a break from all the school work and enjoy the beautiful weather! Of course, don’t forget to check out our GSS bi-weekly newsletter as well:) Here are the few updates for this week:

Are you enrolled for the Summer 2021 semester? If you are, were you charged the part-time Graduate Student Activity Fee in the Fall 2020 semester? Or are you an international student who has not yet entered Canada and does not yet have a Canadian bank account? If you can answer yes to either question, please fill out the form HERE before May 12, 2021 (at 9:30am) to determine if you qualify for the part-time fee.

Science students have until April 25th to register for ComSciConCAN, a free graduate science communication workshop.

The BC government has announced an extension of the BC Graduate Scholarship program! This will provide an additional $630,000 for merit-based funding at SFU. The Graduate Student Societies of BC (GSSBC), of which our GSS is a member, was instrumental in securing this funding.

The 2nd Bi-Annual National Trivia Championships is coming⭐: Let’s make SFU Graduate Students Shine

WHEN: April 27th (Tues) @ 5:00pm PDT

WHAT: Virtual WILD trivia night with LOTS of fun and great prizes!

HOW: Each school could send up to 10 teams (5 players per team) to the competition!

 

Please email student-life@sfugradsociety.ca with your TEAM NAME, EACH TEAM MEMBER FULL NAME+ EMAIL ADDRESS by APRIL 19, if you are interested in participating.

ReGathering: An initiative supported by Social seed funding (Embark & Radius) is organizing weekly friendly Gatherings on topics that are useful for graduate students, especially international students, to promote social connectedness and networking. Check out our website HERE
