Studentcare Change-of-Coverage Period: The GSS Benefit Plan/Studentcare change-of-coverage period runs this year from August 27 to September 21, 2021. Please note in particular that opting-out of this plan is not automatically renewed and must be confirmed each year. Please visit the Studentcare website for more information on changing your coverage.
Return To Campus Safety Survey: Given recent letters from students, faculty, and staff raising concerns about the province’s COVID-19 Return-to-Campus Guidelines and this week’s announcements on indoor mask mandates and proof of vaccines for non-essential services, GSS would like to better understand how graduate students feel about the return to campus and if there are outstanding issues that have not been addressed by the university. Please fill out this quick survey HERE by Friday, September 3rd.
Translink TownHall: Translink will be holding Town Hall sessions for SFU students on 27 August @ 1:00 pm and 30 August at 5:00 pm. Stay tuned for registration information by contacting our Director of Graduate Services at grad-services@sfugradsociety.ca
Budget update: After consultation with the general membership through our budget social as well as the budget consultation survey, the operating budget for the fiscal year 2021-2022 was approved by Council in the August meeting. HERE is a summary of the renewed budget and how it compares to last year’s which was presented to Council this month, and HERE is the full draft of the budget. As always, feel free to be in touch with the Director of Finance if you have any questions about these material or about any other matter regarding the GSS budget.
SFU Student Worker Survey – closes tomorrow!
TSSU, GSS, and SFSS are reaching out to invite you to participate in a short survey that is intended to create a profile of SFU students as workers, your work experience, and your understanding of and access to worker rights information. This information will be used to develop labour education and rights information for students through the TSSU, GSS, and SFSS.
You can complete the survey HERE and this should take 10-15 minutes. To get a representative sample, we ask that you fill out the survey, whether you are working on or off-campus. The survey will close Friday, August 27, 2021, and can be completed only once; it will no longer be available once you have submitted your responses. You can exit the survey at any time until submission.
Your participation in this survey is voluntary, and your responses are confidential. Any information collected will be reported in aggregate only (i.e. no individually identifying information will be reported).
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Beth Maschmann at bmaschma@sfu.ca or bmaschmann@tssu.ca
