Vision Statement
The Governance Committee of the Graduate Student Society furthers the goals of responsiveness, equitability, transparency and accountability of the Society by pursuing consensus-oriented practices, engagement with membership, and the free dissemination of opinions and ideas at the Society, Simon Fraser University and beyond.
Core Competencies- Skills and experiences beyond the regular academic area
- Understanding of regulations and procedures as formed in a non-profit, post-secondary-based, Canadian organization
- Learn how to develop governing documents that will form the structure and support the functioning of the Society
- Learn the lexicon, βlegaleseβ and other very specific terminology used in policy development
- Increase understanding through active development of governing documents
- Review of policy and procedural documents of the Society
