Graduate Student Rep for Institutional Biosafety Committee

Graduate Student Rep for Institutional Biosafety Committee

SFU Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) is charged with overseeing the safe use, storage and disposal ofΒ biohazardous materialsΒ by all members of the SFU community including faculty, staff, graduate students and undergraduate researchers. The IBC isΒ a standing committee with faculty, staff, and student representation from across campus.Β  The committee is responsible for developing and implementing policies, programs and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
The committee is seeking a new graduate student representative for a volunteer position. An ideal representative is one who is familiar with working in a laboratory with biohazardous materialsΒ and who would be available for meetings. The time commitment is not onerous; the committee meets once per semester for about 1Β hour each time.
The committee terms of reference and policy can be found here:Β http://www.sfu.ca/policies/gazette/research.html
Please send your resume or CV and a paragraph description of why you want to be on the committee toΒ pierre.cenerelli@sfugradsociety.caΒ directly ASAP!
