New GSS Know Your Rights Guide!

On International Human Rights Day, we launched a new resource for graduate students: the GSS Know Your Rights Guide! This guide has been developed to help graduate students in understanding policies, practices and rights related to your academic and non-academic life while attending SFU.

The web version of this guide uses language to make policies more accessible, consolidates both SFU and non-SFU policies that are relevant to graduate students and includes links to specific policies as well as additional resources. A print version of the guide will be available when distribution of the guide is more feasible based on COVID19 conditions. And we hope to offer Know Your Rights webinars or workshops in the new year for graduate students to become more familiar with the content of the guide.

If you have any feedback, if you would like to arrange for a workshop for graduate students or if you would like a PDF version of the guide please email advocacy@sfugradsociety.ca.

We would like to thank the Student Experience Initiative at SFU for funding this important project. We would also like to thank the Directors and staff at the GSS, student societies, unions, student services staff and members of faculty for assisting with the development of this guide. And finally, most importantly, we would like to thank graduate students Chantelle Spicer and Cindy Chan who have worked to produce this guide for you.

We hope this guide is a helpful resource for all graduate students.
